At Meldpunt Queer, you can report (suspected) cases of discrimination, intimidation, or violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics. We understand that these are sensitive issues and therefore treat your personal data with the utmost care and confidentiality. This privacy statement explains which personal data we process, why we do so, how we protect it, and what your rights are. Meldpunt Queer complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy legislation.
Meldpunt Queer is an initiative of Stichting Punt Queer i.o (in formation). Stichting Punt Queer i.o. is responsible for processing the personal data collected through the Meldpunt Queer reporting platform.

Meldpunt Queer collects personal data to register, follow up on, and — where appropriate — provide support or referrals for reports of (suspected) discrimination, intimidation, or violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics. In addition, the data may be used to compile anonymous statistics and conduct policy-related research on the nature and scope of discrimination affecting the LGBTQIA+ community.
Depending on the report, the following types of personal data may be collected and processed:
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, place of residence, age, or date of birth.
- Description of the incident: details of what happened, where, and when.
- Special categories of personal data (only if relevant and with your explicit consent):
- medical information;
- political opinions;
- religious or philosophical beliefs;
- race or ethnic origin;
- sexual orientation or gender identity.
.Meldpunt Queer will only request sensitive personal data when it is strictly necessary to handle your report, and always with your explicit consent.
Personal data is processed on the basis of:
- your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR);
- the legitimate interest of Stichting Punt Queer i.o. in handling reports and promoting the well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
For the processing of special categories of personal data, explicit consent is always required (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR).
Personal data is not kept longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
- Reports and related personal data are stored for a maximum of one year after the case has been closed, unless further retention is required due to ongoing procedures or legal obligations.
- Anonymised data may be retained longer for statistical or policy research purposes.
Meldpunt Queer only shares personal data with third parties when this is:
- necessary to process your report (for example, with a legal or social support organisation), and
- you have given explicit consent to do so.
No data is shared with commercial parties or organisations outside the European Union.
Stichting Punt Queer i.o. takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.
The Meldpunt Queer website uses only functional cookies.
These cookies are essential for the website to function properly — for example, to ensure that the reporting form works correctly and to remember your preferences (such as language or cookie settings). The cookies placed do not collect personal data and are not shared with third parties. You can delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that some parts of the website may not function properly if you reject all cookies.
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”);
- object to the processing of your data;
