Your story matters: report every incident to the national reporting point of Punt Queer.

Unfortunately, more and more LGBTQ+ individuals are facing discrimination or unsafe situations, simply because they are being themselves. This can involve hurtful remarks, exclusion, or even violence. Punt Queer wants to change this. That’s why you can share your experience through our (independent) national reporting point. By telling us what happened to you or someone you know, you help shed light on what is going on. Together, we can work toward greater safety, equality, and respect, so that everyone feels free to be themselves.

Reporting an incident is easy. Using the button below, you’ll be taken to the form where you can share your experience. Every report counts and helps to show the challenges that LGBTIQ+ people face. For each type of incident, you’ll find a brief explanation below, so you can easily choose the right category. This way, we make sure that no story goes unnoticed. The more people share their experiences, the stronger our position becomes in achieving change. Your voice matters!

Types of incident

Physical or sexual acts directed against someone because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. This includes both minor forms of violence and serious crimes. The consequences often have a profound impact on the victim’s safety, health, and well-being.

Examples:
• Hitting or pushing in public spaces
• Spitting or throwing objects
• Unwanted touching or groping
• Sexual assault or rape

Insults, name-calling, threats, or bullying expressed in personal interactions or through digital channels. This form of aggression can cause significant psychological harm and often has a disruptive effect on daily life and the sense of safety.

Examples:
• Verbal abuse or intimidating remarks in public
• Threatening messages via social media or email
• Online group bullying or hate campaigns
• Homophobic or transphobic remarks at school or work

Unequal treatment or systematic exclusion in work and educational settings or in access to public services and facilities. This can occur explicitly or subtly and often directly affects opportunities for development, career, and social participation.

Examples:
• Rejection in job applications due to sexual orientation
• Bullying by teachers or fellow students
• Unequal treatment in hospitality, sports clubs, or shops
• Unfair rules regarding housing or membership

Specific obstacles and negative experiences related to gender identity or gender expression. This often involves disrespectful or discriminatory behavior, as well as structural barriers in healthcare and legal recognition of a person’s identity.

Examples:
• Misgendering through incorrect forms of address
• Refusal or delays in medical transition care
• Problems with changing official documents
• Insecurity in restrooms or changing rooms

Situations in which LGBTIQ+ individuals are rejected, ignored, or pressured by family, friends, or other close relations. This exclusion often has serious consequences for well-being and can lead to isolation or loss of social networks.

Examples:
• Rejection by parents or family members
• Forced outing within the family circle
• Exclusion or bullying in friend groups
• Unwanted disclosure of personal information

Obstacles arising from policies, rules, or bureaucratic processes of organizations or governments. This involves systematic inequality that affects multiple individuals and often has deeper societal causes.

Examples:
• Municipal procedures that exclude trans people
• Lack of inclusion policies at school or work
• Inability to exercise certain rights, such as adoption
• Complex or discriminatory bureaucratic processes

Negative or offensive expressions about LGBTIQ+ individuals or communities in traditional or social media, or by influential public figures. Such expressions often reinforce stigmas and can lead to broader societal discrimination or hostility.

Examples:
• Discriminatory newspaper articles or columns
• Offensive jokes or stereotypes on television
• Hate-filled statements by politicians or celebrities
• Social media posts by public figures containing harmful content

Exclusion, condemnation, or negative statements in religious or faith contexts. This can range from formal exclusion within a faith community to hurtful rhetoric by religious leaders, often deeply affecting identity and meaning.

Examples:
• Sermons with homophobic messages
• Exclusion of LGBTIQ+ members from churches, mosques, or other faith communities
• Religiously motivated statements that legitimize discrimination
• Rituals or rules that maintain inequality

Small, often unconscious expressions or behaviors that are derogatory or stereotypical. Although subtle, microaggressions have a cumulative effect and contribute to a sense of structural inequality and exclusion in daily life.

Examples:
• Using “That’s so gay” as an insult
• Stereotypical remarks about appearance or behavior
• Non-verbal rejection such as looking away or laughing
• Unsolicited questions or assumptions about relationships

Problems experienced by LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers or refugees during their asylum procedure or in reception centers. These often involve insecurity, bullying, or difficulties in obtaining recognition and protection.

Examples:
• Bullying or violence in an asylum seeker center (AZC)
• Insufficient protection by shelter staff
• Asylum application not taken seriously or rejected due to disbelief in LGBTIQ+ identity
• Isolation or lack of support during integration
